Facilitation processes are used for large group conversations. Facilitators guide the process, but ownership of the process belongs to the participants. Facilitators raise issues without harming relationships, shift conversations to effective interactions, foster collaboration, re-frame issues, and promote effective problem solving. The facilitator helps people achieve their collective goals by identifying non-productive patterns, helping people build relationships that last, and enhancing communication. Facilitators uncover perceptions that can derail conversations, manage strong emotions, remove barriers to mutual understanding, change the tone of hard-to-manage conflicts and strengthen relationships by engaging in conversations have been avoided.
